Skeuomorphism specifically in UI design was made popular in the 80’s by Steve Jobs at Apple. This design principal favors more graphic rich interfaces that mimic the aesthetic characteristics their real world counterparts. Details such as light, texture, gradients are typical components of this design style. In terms of popularity, the design community has vacillated between skeuomorphic and “Flat Design” over the past few years. We’re starting to see skeuomorphic concepts subtly return to UI design.
Adobe Photoshop was used to create the wireframes for this particular project. wireframes can also be created in Sketch and Axure. The wireframes were built on an 1440px - 8 column grid system. A variation of designs were derived from this single layout.
